Heerenveen, December 21, 2017 – The Chilean Ministry for Public Works has decided to actually award Antea Group and its Chilean partner, consultancy firm Len & Asociados, the contract for a new design of the double-leaf bascule bridge over the Cau-Cau river in Valdivia, Chile.
The bridge that currently spans the Cau-Cau river was scheduled to open in July of 2014, but technical problems occurred just before the bridge was opened for traffic. New calculations and a new design are now required, and this will involve analyzing which parts of the existing bridge are suitable for reuse. Measuring 363 meters in length and 14 meters in width, the bridge links Teja Island with the Las Animas zone, thus improving Valdivia’s accessibility.
Len & Asociados is one of Chile’s top consultancy firms, with more than 40 years’ experience in providing consultancy and engineering services in the field of infrastructure. “Antea Group is already a leader in the Netherlands and this contract gives us a great opportunity to demonstrate our expertise in the field of safe and reliable movable bridges outside of the Netherlands too,” says Peter Vos, Movable Bridges Project Manager.
